Intimate Eco Retreat & Holistic Homestead Situated in the heart of Gold Country on Nisenan land in the historical town of Red Dog, our project spans 7.65 acres within the temperate zone of the Sierra Nevada Foothills in Northern California. The property has inspiring topography in part shaped by an ancient river bed as well as the historical hydro mining of the 1800’s. The majority of the land has a southerly aspect. A year round creek flows horizontally NE-SW through the middle of the land, connecting the foothill woodlands to a beautiful riparian valley filled with willow, black berry, alder and the endangered yellow legged frog. Several micro climates exist through out with a growing season of 9.2 months. Concepts included in the project; Food Production, Medicinal herbal garden, solar energy & rain catchment, Grey Water Systems, natural building, animal systems, bees, compost & soil building, riparian restoration, forestry management, Biochar, hiking trails natural building, and more. The land will host community skillshares, art & music workshops, wellness spa & apothecary, education around land stewardship, community dinners, and camping. There will be a gift shop onsite selling handmade & grown sundries from the land and local community. *Samuel Clemens was first introduced as Mark Twain on stage in the town of red dog which very well could have been on our site;)
