Brought the Existential Action Temple to help celebrate Sunset Sound Systems 10yr anniversary in Belden Town.
I put this video together to share some of the feels! Take a look at what was created. Hope to see you in the next Temple
EXISTENTIAL ACTION TEMPLE
Water, Earth, Air, Fire you are the vessel. Let us open our hearts. Surrender to the inner exploration, the watery depths of our souls evolution. Releasing our fears & expressing our innermost truths. Together, infinite reflections, compassion flows. We are here to witness to integrate release & renew. Death & resurrection in a moment of full bloom, with true strength we soften within the temple. A warm cup of tea in hand, a smile to melt away the chill of deep isolation. Healing hands invite us to come home to our bodies, these celestial vessels that allow us to experience a dynamic spectrum of pleasure & pain. Let us celebrate with reverence through connection the Divine Comedy that we call Life.
As long as one possesses the great health, (pain, suffering & tragedy) are to be not only welcomed but worshipped as the great stimulator of life. We will only grow stronger through the accidents that threaten to destroy us.The heights one scales when one is able to look into the dreadful abyss of life, to experiment with the most painful thoughts and the most extreme form of nihilism, and still be able to emerge from such depths and affirm life saying yes to it in its totality is arguably the highest state a human being can attain.

Navigating The Liminal, 49”x70”, mixed media, 2018
Please contact Mirus Gallery for availability or to view in person info@mirusgallery.com 🙏
Some notes on my materials;
Brain tanned sheepskin & rabbit hide. Found doe skull & two point buck antler also found. I made the rattle using pieces of rawhide from a buck I’d found on the road, same hide I made my drum from. The leg of a younger deer also roadkill. One of the arrowheads is made from a California king snake also roadkill. Homemade arrows;) Wild Turkey feathers, shark tooth, wool roving & raw wool fleece, cotton fiber and other mixed media.
When I’m finishing a piece it must contain sacrifice, a true offering. An offering of something “deer” to me. Either objects that Ive carried for a long time or materials that I’ve found & or harvested & worked over until I’ve stabilized them. I am grateful for this intimacy. For this knowing. Caring for & absorbing the effects of these animals killed on the road forces me to face death. Flesh & Bones, life & death, to contemplate and learn to navigate the Liminal... If a piece contains to many virgin materials & I have no memorable connection or experience with them, if they didn’t demand something from deep within, if they didn’t evoke emotion & contemplation the piece feels void to me.
I have to care, the piece has to mean something to me beyond the potential of a monetary reimbursement or temporary inflation of accolades otherwise what’s the point? Another whirl on the ego trip? What’s the real challenge, to what degree am I willing to grow & do the work?
It has to hurt a little to let it go. I have to know that I’m at the very least offering something genuine.
Regardless to wether or not I was successful in transmitting the download.
If these pieces are going to require sacred objects temporarily in my possession, then my aim must be Nobel. To create something worthy of calling upon the divine creative force & asking for these objects to speak. So that others may hear.
As a Sagittarius with a Pisces rising may my arrow always be aimed at TRUTH and LOVE
That’s all for now

VIP and press private opening and champagne toast open Friday June 1, 5:30-7pm. The reception opens to the general public Friday June 1, 7-10pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

The Existential Action Team’s Founders and Artists Damon Soule and Sparkles Positron designed and led a team of talented artists and crafts workers to create a village centered on a week long live collaboration with Artists Mars 1, Damon Soule, Oliver Vernon, Nome Edonna and David Choong Lee. Its been over a decade since these artists first began collaborating, over the years these five artists have had the opportunity to create and collaborate in front of a generation hungry for inspiration.
Going beyond the boundaries of the studio into the open air under the sun the stars the rain and now their second eclipse. The environment created for the Oregon Eclipse was inspired by love! By remembering a time of innocence when we dared to dream and those dreams carried us to the tree tops, to a mystical village of interwoven forts and swings, a tea house with potions & elixirs, the hearth, music, a jam room, creation unfolding before you, laughter and tears, play and creating all under a total Solar Eclipse what better medicine!
We believe in creating environments that balance both the Feminine and Masculine energies while honoring the elements. We strive to create spaces that are personal, that acknowledge all senses and that can transport you into an altered state of consciousness while feeling safe and supported. We want to inspire and bewitch!

A group show contemplating the current state of San Francisco.
October 22, 2016 - December 5, 2016
Humming Home In The Way Of Progress, 44in x 45in, mixed media
San Francisco has, at one time or another, been called home by a dynamic list of flora, fauna, creatures, and spirits. The current exodus and influx of the 7x7 territory called San Francisco is, in fact part of a long history of such scenes. For my piece, I pay homage to the Ohlone people, who were displaced long before Google and that tit watching app arrived. Rather than focusing on the injustice and deepening a wedge between us, I heed you to be grateful for you time, your experiences, your relationships, growth, expansion and adventures in this city. Where ever you choose to go, bring light into that place, be mindful, of those who are already there, be humbled by your rival, be open to learning, be patient and kind to the flora and fauna that surround you. Protect what is sacred to you, be vigilant, and adapt. -Sparkles
July 23 - September 3, 2016
San Francisco – Mirus Gallery is set to feature its newest show Meet Me At The Dogstar by Bay Area artists Sparkles Positron and Damon Soule. The gallery’s opening reception will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 and the show will be on view through Saturday, August 20, 2016.
From the Artists:
“In Meet Me At The Dogstar Damon Soule and Sparkles Positrons (Julianne Yates) third collaborative show, the couple attempt to literally leap light years away. Their previous two shows End Of This World Tour in 2012 and Tag It And Bag It in 2013, were centered around road trips and their opportunity for exploration, inspiration, and existential action. This time around the two conduct a metaphysical experiment in interstellar travel, soul contracts, and ripples through time using infinity as the medium.
Why the dogstar? Why not?
The two will present a body of work consisting of several collaborative, and solo works as well as an interactive installation. Sparkles’ work, with its emphasis on texture, bright colors, and natural materials which she harvests and processes herself, perfectly contrasts Soule’s maximalist, undulating, optical eye fry, and light controlled crystal synthesizers. Together they weave a magical space which immerses the viewer in the artists sensory spaceship.
Meet Me At The Dogs
This project could not have manifested with out the Devine Feminine and Masculine energies working together symbiotically dancing and weaving the magical threads that cultivated these dreams into reality. So grateful to witness and co-create with such an awesome family!

BE HERE NOW
BE HERE NOW
BE HERE NOW
Be Here Now, this was the last installation & performance that I curated and created in the Gallery that I owned and operated from 2009-2013. Over the course of four years I performed the part of a Gallerist, researching the part becoming the character, I began glancing into the future and realizing my motivations were leading me down a narrowing path that began to lack freedom and a fulfilling purpose.
By 2011, I would be consumed and confronted with my own death, my legacy and its temperance, igniting an illuminated path, beckoning me out of the darkness. By the end of 2014 I was cooked, clinging to an identity I no longer recognized, struggling to free myself yearning for the end credits. Still suffering in desire and bumping into abandoned opportunities haunting me like hungry ghosts. The chord cutting ceremony was in order, It was going to hurt to concede but as I spoke the words Be Here Now i knew what needed to be done. I closed the gallery and on the last day I welcomed myself home with a smile.
*Over the course of these four years I documented my experience addressing an audience that never saw the video entries I created, one of my dreams is to realize and help to manifest a finished documentary, to share my journey to tell my story and to connect with you.
A collaborative installation featured in Damon Soule's solo exhibition, Quintessence 2014
The concept and design for this installation were based on Bacteriophages, (if you don't know what they are go look them up!) The phage injects its DNA into bacteria to replicate itself and so then; the Jampophage injects its DNA(music & Light) into its hosts (humans) taking over the humans body and rhythmically animating humans causing electrical currents to vibrate waves that reverberate generating a pleasurable sound that prompts the human hosts to continue and attract more hosts to join in furthering the replication of the Jamophage, proliferating through music and color!
Existential Action Team members Sparkles Positron, D23Electron, and Cool Story, set off last month for the worlds largest gem and mineral show in Tucson Az. What unfolded over the next two weeks across the Southwest can only be described as astonishing and unforgettably opening. Synchronistic clues were left like a dotted line across the regions sun soaked desserts, and the occasionally odd but beautiful human settlement. As the team collected, tagged and subsequently bagged any evidence that could be reassembled later, it became increasingly clear a multiversal message was being scrawled atop our dimensional plane. We are presently at the decoding stage of this mission, and the Existential Action Teams' Information Technologies dept
In the summer of 2012, two naive souls set across the country in search of inspiration in whatever plant, animal, or mineral they encountered. Traveling in their ship the “Crystal Teardrop” and armed with only some musical instruments, paints and their half wits, they sought the unseekable. It makes sense if you don’t think about it.
As the name implies "the end of this world tour" was a project that stemmed from the upcoming controversial Mayan calendar date of December 21st 2012. The decision to use end of "This World" rather than "The World" puts the emphasis on the date being a time of change rather than some type of apocalyptic catastrophe. Whether the date is real or imagined makes no difference, as we can always create positive change in ourselves and going out into the world with this in mind was our goal.
The great American road trip is now through, but the transformative experience lives on in our hearts. This art installation aims to convey the excitement of waking up in a different environment almost daily, through the exploration of the concepts of sacred space, metamorphosis, and personal growth through travel. Some of these ideas are examined through the lens
of comparative mythology, with a focus on metaphorical characters which populate many of the worlds spiritual philosophies. Some of these archetypes are represented with small alters or are hinted at through the use of symbolic objects in the larger shrine itself. The centerpiece is largely constructed from the teardrop trailer we built to travel the country in, and the majority of the assembled elements were collected throughout the trip. Our adventure and this show has been a labor of love and we hope this comes through in the work.

Wow I just wrote a long description recapping this build and it all got deleted haha.
So here goes I am sitting in my studio and it’s January 2, 2025. I’ve had time to digest and now I’m feeling ready to share.
Oops we did it again! We were invited back to Belden town to bring the Existential Action Tea Temple & Lounge, to the feather river to celebrate Sunset Sound Systems 30 year anniversary “Occasus Solis”.
I really feel like I found the balance on this one. That sweet spot between work and play. I’m so grateful for such a solid community of friends, and feel so blessed to have been able to create a beautiful container for people to gather. We shared so many jokes, and despite the long days and the long nights production ran pretty smooth. We filled a 20 foot truck.
Last January 5th I learned of the passing of an old friend and so I spent the year in and out of grief grieving as grief often comes in waves. I spent a lot of time alone in the studio, which was really nourishing for my spirit, my evolution, and the development of my creative process. I was fortunate enough to have my Mom work with me in the studio, cutting and sewing fabrics during the six weeks that I spent sewing new sheathings for the icosahedron‘s the mini temples.
I had set out with the intention of dialing in the existing elements that make up the Existential Action Tea Temple & Lounge. One of those improvements was a third lantern on top of each of the Guardian Towers. Once again my love, my cosmic partner, my muse, my secret weapon of mass creation Damon Soule help me bring those forth.
I was able to support my friend and studio mate Snowbroth in bringing out more of her creative magic. She added some sweet botanical sculptures to soften the edges in those transitional spaces,. I created the Sparkly Light Spike (my disco mirrored sigil with the help of my love and an amazing wood worker friend. I improved the lighting, but also feel like the project is not quite there, but that’s the journey of an evolving project.
I’m excited to include all the new assets that were created for Burningman. Although they’re all covered in dust and I’m going to have my work cut out for me in the late spring, dusting all the things. Another improvement this year was all the new quilted sheathing for the icosahedron’s.
The interior of the Tea Temple saw improvements as well. My friend Moons gifted me a custom circular shelving piece she made. I’ve since decked it out in true Sparkle form. I’ve been wanting some piece behind me to frame the tea alter and I am in love with it. Stoked to share that on the next go round. We also sewed new casings for all of the pillows. I used what I had! I danced my butt off I saw many sunrises unintentionally, but gratefully. I sewed my outfit for opening ceremony an hour before opening ceremony. I sewed myself into it. That was fun!
I really spent a lot of time this year contemplating how I’m living my life what I’m giving my energy and focus to and the quality of time that I’m spending with my loved ones. Really checking in. I felt a sense of urgency to live now “Memento Vivere” because “Memento Mori”.
I think when you’re faced with the passing of a loved one it can bring you home. Death also brings us closer to the people that are still here breathing on this earth. My drive, my action this year stemmed from that loss. To the remembrance of how precious our time here is. I also really enjoyed the solitude of my practice in the studio this year and was really proud of myself for showing up consistently. I was juggling a lot of plates this year. I’ve been juggling a lot of plates for many years. This year felt different.
I’m grateful for the life I get to live. For Sunset and the folks behind it and the folks that come to it and purchase tickets and through those activations and support. I am able to explore my creativity. I really love creating spaces and I love the challenge of working in the elements and creating spaces that feel good. That feel like home. I am drawn into color and the whimsical. Perhaps to offset starve off the heaviness. I look forward to the next iteration and hope you are there.
We were invited to participate in the revitalization efforts to rejuvenate the Heart of The City “Center Camp” at Burningman this year. We were thrilled to take on the great challenge of building in the dust. We were excited and honored to share what we love to do. To create a container within a container within a container of love and passion and wonder. To bewitch and bewilder.
The year prior I had planted a seed. I proclaimed to the universe that I wanted to bring my work to the Playa. Home to Burningman. My first burn was in 2011 and it was a game changer for me. I was into my second year of having the gallery and I had a show turn over during the weekend of the burn. My friend and I left Playa Friday morning painted a black gallery white hung a show held an opening reception and at the end of the night we jumped back into the car and made it back to the playa for Sunrise. I’ve retuned several years since and every Burn has gifted me either shadow work or light work. It was an honor to be recognized this year and to be given an opportunity to gather my loved ones in a great push and collaboration.
While I don’t feel like I hit my mark creatively on this one. I do feel like I succeeded on some level. Every project I learn more and I study the photos and look for ways to improve the installations and their compositions. I don’t know how I could have squeezed out anymore in the time frame I was working with and on the budget but I know deep down I gave it all that I could.
I feel blessed to have and to hold so many special humans that create and are willing to give and pour so much love into the greater vision. I couldn’t have done it with out them and all the jokes we get to share when we gather.
Thank you to my love and cosmic Partner Damon Soule for always having time for me and supporting my visions. Encouraging me, teaching me, inspiring me and loving me. For all the splinters your poor hands have endured:) I love you. My cosmic sisters, Snowbroth, Polimnia & Moons. My brothers Five Tone and Nome Tone the real Geeees!!! From start to finish the last few standing over and over. So grateful for y’all. To Laura Day All Day. I love you and thank you for believing in the vision, supporting and championing us. You’re a powerful leader woman and human.
To the men of Furtherrr and their families for saying yes! For creating such beauty and inspiring us all. Watching y’all work together over the last 14 years has taught me so much about creativity, collaboration, inter personal relating. To the women behind them.
Thank you to Paul Hemming and Brian Chambers for your madness and genius and belief in the magic these men share and offer the world. For championing them for all these years.
To everyone who made it possible! For building the city for building the dream!
Much love & Gratitude,
Sparkles
Dreams Coming True Sitting here in the studio looking at these images at midnight. What a year! In 2018 I built out a trike into a mobile Tea Trike and roamed around the playa serving tea. It was quite the feat peddling that magical contraption through the desert duff. Damon and the guys were painting that year and I wanted to serve tea and bring that offering out of camp and across the desert. It was beautiful and healing. In 2023 I sent out a call looking for an electric hub and was on the fence about heading back out to the playa. This time I had a ticket and was envisioning my first solo journey out there. When the time came I decided not to go. Two days later the news broke about “Mudman” haha what would that have been like for my first solo journey? I may never know. What I do know is that by broadcasting those seeds an idea began to germinate.
I put out a call earlier this year asking if who would like to join me in serving Tea and expanding the Tea & healing offerings within the Tea Temple at Sunset Campout. Moons and I had been going back and forth in 2023 about creating a tea Trike posse for roaming Tea Service on playa. She answered the call again and showed up to Belden town where we consecrated the vision and expanded upon it. The Existential Action Trikes Intergalactic Tones was birthed there on the feather river.
In the weeks following we devised a plan in conjunction with the Burningman installation and project for center camp we wanted to bring this offering out! We setup a go fund me to help raise funds to support the dream. We were so blessed to have angels donate. We didn’t meet the full goal but we got the essentials and floated the rest.
We set out on our experiment Sunday morning of the Temple Burn. We’d stayed up all night and had already been onsite for nearly two and a half weeks building, working, pouring tea, we were pretty spent but we rallied for Sunrise tea just beyond the temple and pour devout believers joined us! We packed up our steeds around 4:30am and began the ride out to the horizon. Our friend Bailey documented these movements so beautifully.
The first person to sit in front of me was someone I’d met and who’s houses I’d been into years prior out in Santa Cruz best bud of a dear friend of mine. He said I knew there would be tea out here. This is exactly what we were looking for!
Back in Belden we roped some others into the plot. Snowbroth poured tea in the tea temple one night very briefly and we said Snowbroth you gotta join our Trike Gang! She laughed and dreamed up her version we got Damon and Nome to join in to contribute their beats and Nome lugged out a mini sound system and Damon brought hid modular synths. We served tea & borsht soup whilst dancing to groovy beats as we watched the last sunrise on the temple. My Dad finally found us and our friends brought a bigger caravan of morning desert dwellers to the Tea party. They setup a site specific installation and as the sun began to heat the desert we began to fade. We packed up our caravan and headed back for center camp. We got to the Living art Lounge and I fell asleep as soon as i laid down.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
We want to bring Mobile Tea + Tunes + Nourishing Delights to the Playa & beyond ✨✨
Our Vision:
To mobilize the Tea & Tunes experience! Equip us with a few tools, new rides, & some necessary ritual accoutrement.
Who?
Sparkles Positron serving tea
Katherine Spath (Moons) serving tea,
Juli Elin (Snowbroth) serving tea and Siberian soups
Nome Edonna serving tunes.
What?
Mobilize Tea service & other spontaneous delights along with a Modular Synth & Selector Experience.
Where?
Anywhere & everywhere. Our mobile caravan can pop up anywhere. The first gathering of Intergalactic Tones will be at Burningman 2024. Imagine looking at the most epic art sculpture with the idea of nourishing oolong ,broth, and tunes to move through us- helping us to stay fluid to the experience of this moment- this present place.
Why?
Because sometimes the journey of the burn can break you open, push you to your edge so you can see what lies beneath the surface layers, going deeper, breathing into the shadow and with the will you may emerge stronger, lighter, illuminated with more tolerance, allowance, love & acceptance.
Other times the journey teaches us through serving others. By foregoing our own astral metaphysical scuba expedition & creating an opportunity to hold someone in need when they’re ready to come up for air. A warm cup of tea in hand, A moment in the dust- a kiss on the wind, the taste of the sweetest plant medicine we know to share.
Or maybe a nourishing cup of grandmas soup and some tunes, accompanied with a smile and some entertaining banter to melt away the chill of deep isolation and bring us back into connection.
To find comfort within the harsh.
The seed and the lore:
In 2018 Sparkles fashioned her trusty analogue trike into a Mystical Mobile Tea Trike. She peddled her heart out that year! Well, really it was her knees that did all the work. Bearing the wait of her vision to bring Mobile Tea service to the desert. They peddled in earnest in search of weary travelers in need of hot tea to rejuvenate their souls, wet their whistle, and share a laugh while taking refuge in the desert oasis that filled their tea cups.
Making frequent stops and traveling on, she served many that year in the desert. Under the heat of the sun she burned as she made her way across town storm beaten with every wave of dust and rut that tossed her woven canopy to and fro. She hauled gallons of spring water in glass jugs, fire, tea, vessels and a few dozen of the worlds finest hand made weaving assemblages infused by the Solar Eclipse of 2017. She served tea around Playa, peddled through the dark in a white out, getting lost and spit out hours later in an unrecognizable part of town. Realizing at the crossroads she was right where she’d started. She was steadfast and did not waiver. She made it to the Man and she served the people. Mission Complete.
Sparkles vowed to return with her Mystical Tea Trike one day!
She left the desert that year on a quest to find what she heard rumored and mumbled on the wind and in the dust across the desert.
Two words whispered in her ear: “Electric Trike”.
Many years passed and the world grew cold and turned upside down and inside out. People became isolated and forgot their humanity. Time drug on and disappeared, swallowing many. The world eventually seemed to reboot but files were corrupted. Errors in the code caused glitches in the OG OS. People began to piece together a life they once had and lost in what it could be…began to reckon with the wreckage asking themselves will we ever “GET TO GATHER AGAIN?”
While traveling the galactic sea in June 2024, Sparkles reunited with her sisters Moons & Snowbroth in a canyon river side for the the summer solstice at the occasus solis to spin their cosmic magic and pour tea. In the Tea Temple they gathered. While just outside in the Temple grounds under starlight two Maestros lay their brushes on canvas twisting and turning in rhythm with the tunes they selected & teased. As the Tea & the Tunes flowed together they wove a dream and casting the fates they spoke aloud!
A new vision a gift to the world was born! Long Live THE EXISTENTIAL ACTION TRIKE INTERGALACTIC TONES!!
They took vows that night to join together in the desert with their fleet of Trikes serving Tea, Siberian soups, Tunes and other Mystical delights in divine service to humanity’s need for repair and connection.
Our numbers grew and one became two, became three, became five!
Upon returning to the trees of Nevada City, the whispers rolled in and by divine intervention Sparkles was led fortuitously to the MOON COOL electric trike.
After all of these years her trusty Trike found her. Ready to be of service! Her knees begged her, she looked at the tag and said we couldn’t possibly afford such a luxurious expense. Again her knees pleaded with her! They got down and prayed, even. “Baby source please please help us find a way! “
Remembering her vows she said YES and brought her steed home.
Out in the world people had grown calloused, consumed with the disease of disconnect. They grew anxious and asked themselves, “ Is this really the new normal?”
Just then when all faith was waning, the faintest light was seen on the horizon. What is that?!
The ground began to rattle, the air began to pulse and bells began to chime.
The smell of Grandma’s Borscht and the sweetest aroma of Tea began to permeate the air, and just there in the distance a form began to take shape. Could it be? And then the Bass dropped! The break broke and before we knew it the Existential Action Trikes Intergalactic Tones landed their fleet! In a frenzy fresh off their galactic tour, unfurling their rugs, sweeping and shaking off the dust from the long journey from over there to here.
The water began to boil, the borscht bubbled over, the incense burned, the tea steeped, and the tunes activated their senses, beckoning everyone home to their bodies.
All began to move.
The disconnect melted and we began to see again, like a beacon of hope, a promise to ourselves.
The Existential Action Tones remind us to Celebrate Life and the human experience on this planet at this moment on this timeline.
A new day is here if you are willing to create it with us!
We hope to share this with as many hearts and minds as possible, helping these moments to happen literally anywhere!
